Aqaba, Feb. 7 (Petra)-- Khaled Al-Bakkar, the Minister of Labor, and Chairperson of the Board of Directors of the Jordan Phosphate Mines Company (JPMC), Mohammad Thneibat, talked about the potential for the establishment of a prestigious training facility for the mining and petrochemical industries, among others, that are required by industrial investments in Aqaba.

Additionally, they talked about negotiating contracts to hire and train Jordanians. The Phosphate Mines Company's CEO, Abdul Wahab Al-Rawad, the Secretary General of the Ministry of Labor, Farouk Al-Hadidi, the Director of the Inspection Directorate at the Ministry, Haitham Al-Najdawi, and the Director of the Phosphate Mines Company were present at their meeting today, Friday, at the company's industrial complex in the city of Aqaba.

Al-Bakkar praised the Phosphate Mines Company's recent success with its current leadership and work team and stated that the government's work program is based on the economic modernization vision that was accomplished in collaboration with the private sector and large corporations.

He emphasized that work indicators are the last word when evaluating an institution's performance. In order to equip young people with the professions that each sector requires and in a way that aligns with each governorate's competitive advantage, he explained, training academies should be established. The mining industry is one of the key sectors that requires a genuine partnership with the private sector.

Thneibat then disclosed that up to 6,000 direct and indirect job possibilities will be created by the company's expansion of specific businesses and the development of new industries.

He clarified that although all of the company's employees are Jordanian, this does not exclude the hiring of several foreign specialists for brief and restricted periods of time. He also mentioned that all of the employees who oversee the phosphate industrial complex in Aqaba are Jordanian by nationality.

In addition to offering a number of perks to these young people, he emphasized that the Phosphate Company is prepared to work with the Ministry of Labor to train young job seekers in around 16 supporting professions required by the phosphate mines and the industrial complex.
