Phosphoric Acid

Identification:

Phosphoric Acid : A non-organic chemical acid, it is considered an essential input in many industries. There are several types of phosphoric acid, such as the commercial type that is used in fertilizer industries and the high-purity food grade that is used in the food and pharmaceutical industries.

Manufacturing method:

Phosphoric acid is manufactured by reacting raw phosphate with sulfuric acid. This process takes place inside a specialized reactor. The reaction process results in a clay mixture consisting of diluted phosphoric acid at a concentration of 28% and phosphor-gypsum (a by-product of the reaction). Diluted phosphoric acid at a concentration of 28% is separated through a filtration process. • Then the diluted phosphoric acid is sent to the evaporation units to raise the concentration of phosphoric acid to a concentration of 54%. During the concentration process, fluosilicic acid is produced. It  is a by-product used as a production input in the aluminum fluoride unit.
