Environmental Projects

The Company is engaged with the following environmental projects:

  • The Project to Recycle the Water Used in Phosphate Washing at Eshidia Mine. The Company cooperates with Engicon – a local company to treat (9,000) cubic meters of water per day under a  “Build, Operate, Transfer” BOT contract. This project is expected to be completed mid 2025 with an estimated cost of USD 10 million.
  • The Project of Vegetating (Greening) the Gypsum Mountain at the Industrial Complex in Aqaba. This is the ideal solution to rid from the accumulated waste of the phosphate industry. Such waste are of a negative impact on environment. This project is based on a joint study conducted by the Company and Aqaba Special Economic Zone (ASEZA) and implemented with the efforts exerted by the staff of JPMC. It is in line with the vision of ASEZA to create recreational spaces and green landscapes; which is a qualitative value added to tourism in Aqaba. In the future, the whole mountain will be greened according to scientific principles based on specialized research under this project. An amount of one million Jordanian Dinars has been allocated for this project and it is expected to be completed in the forthcoming three years. 
  • Construction of a New Double Wall and Double Integrity Ammonia Tank. The capacity of this tank is 30 thousand tons. The design of the tank and its execution works are expected to take 24 months. The cost is estimated at USD 35 million and the “Water Dome” of the current ammonia tanks is being designed at present in compliance with the top standards of safety and response to emergencies.
