Al-Hasa Mine
Al-Hasa Mine
Al-Hasa mine is located approximately 140 km south of the capital, Amman, and 5 km from the Desert Highway, within the Tafilah Governorate.
Production at Al-Hasa Mine
As one of the oldest mines in the Jordan Phosphate Mines Company portfolio, the Al-Hasa mine was the primary source of phosphate production for the company from the 1960s through the 1990s. Phosphate production commenced at the mine in 1962, situated around 140 km southeast of Amman, within the Tafilah Governorate.
From the outset of operations, the company prioritized the development and establishment of essential infrastructure for mining and phosphate production. This included the construction of screening and crushing units, as well as a unit for upgrading phosphate ore concentration and drying units for the processed phosphate. The company also deployed advanced equipment for phosphate extraction, such as electric shovels, which significantly contributed to the removal of overburden from the phosphate layers.
In 2023, the production capacity of the Al-Hasa mine reached 2.4 million tons.
